                                                                      The Abstract Pictographic Period represents
Barooshian's only foray into Abstract Expressionism
so popular amongst his colleagues.  Inspired by
work by  Paul Klee and Bradley Walker Tomlin,
                                                                      Barooshian produced rhythmically compelling
works taking full advantage of his color sense and calligraphic line.  This period, though short lived,
is pivotal in the artist's development, foreshadowing his obsessive need to fill his canvas with
a visual feast, demanding renewed interest at every turn.  These works also bear an early witness
to Barooshian's experimental methodologies for creating visual depth by manipulating overlapping
form and strong color.
